What is mail-in diecast racing?
Mail-In Diecast Racing is a remote racing format where you build and mail your diecast cars—usually 1:64 scale Hot Wheels, Matchbox, or similar—to an official track to be raced in organized events.
Instead of needing to travel, you simply:
-
Choose an event
-
Prepare your car
-
Ship it to us
-
Watch it race online
Each event is run like a real motorsport series, with heats, brackets, timing, video coverage, and official results.
You don’t need to leave your garage or hobby room to see your car run on a professional track.

How mail-in racing works at Timber Creek Speedway
We’ve made the process simple, fair, and fun - whether you’re a first-time entrant or a seasoned builder.
Step 1: Choose Your Event
Timber Creek Speedway hosts a variety of events throughout the year:
-
Season Championships – multi-round events with points and standings
-
Themed Races – muscle cars, exotics, JDM, trucks, fantasy, and more
-
Stock Classes – unopened or lightly tuned cars, perfect for beginners
-
Builder & Custom Classes – for those who go all-in on tuning and customizing
Each event listing includes rules, deadlines, and class requirements, so you’ll know exactly where your build fits best.
Step 2: Build and Prepare Your Car
Select your favorite 1:64 diecast and prep it according to the event rules. Depending on the class, you might:
-
Run a stock car straight from the blister pack
-
Apply performance tuning like polishing axles, adding graphite, or balancing weight
-
Submit a fully custom build with wheel swaps, added weight, paint, and body modifications
We provide detailed specifications (weight limits, wheel type rules, allowed mods) for every class to keep the racing competitive and fair.
Step 3: Mail It In To Us
Once your car is ready:
-
Complete your driver entry (we provide a simple form).
-
Label your car with your driver name and event name.
-
Pack it securely (bubble wrap or a small box works great).
-
Mail it to Timber Creek Speedway at the address provided in the event details.
When your car arrives, we check it in, inspect for rule compliance, and log it into the event roster so you can track its progress.
Step 4: Race Day
On race day (or race week):
-
Every car is seeded into heats, brackets, or time trials, depending on the event format.
-
Races are run on our performance built Timber Creek track, designed for consistent runs and exciting finishes.
-
We record each race with high-quality video angles and, where applicable, timing data.
-
Results are posted and updated so you can follow your car round by round.
You get the full racing experience - from qualifying to finals - without ever leaving home.
Step 5: Watch the Action
After the event, we share:
-
Full race videos so you can watch your car in action
-
Podium results and standings
-
Event recaps highlighting standout runs and close finishes
Many racers use these results to fine-tune future builds based on how their car performed on the Timber Creek layout.
Step 6: Car Returns or Future Events
After the event, you’ll have options (depending on your entry form details):
-
Have your car returned to you
-
Keep your car on-site for future events
-
Donate your car to the event winner
Return-shipping details are always required in the event form, so we know where to post-back to you.
